An insatiable appetite for his sport

Over his storied career, Greg Norman won 86 professional events around the world, including two Open Championships and 20 US PGA Tour titles, and was ranked number one in the world for a record-breaking 331 weeks. In addition to his playing career, “The Great White Shark”—named for the determination and single-mindedness of the legendary predator—has created a diverse and successful business empire spanning apparel, wine, specialty meats, events and sports marketing, and real estate.

Norman has also become one of the world’s leading golf course designers, with Greg Norman Golf Course Design holding a portfolio of 65 open-for-play courses with an additional 53 projects in various stages of development. Chair of the Advisory Council of the Environmental Institute for Golf, Norman designs courses that are sensitive to the environment. For Fire, this means that the planting blends with the natural desert.

“I am a firm believer in using what Mother Nature has given us on a particular site. We do not have a particular style—I get a mental snapshot and feel for the terrain and elements of the surrounds and the vegetation before mapping out a course.”
