The Environmental Institute for Golf (EIFG), the philanthropic organisation of the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America, is a collaborative effort with one purpose: strengthen the compatibility of golf with the natural environment. EIFG provides research, education and outreach programmes that educate the public on the best environmental management practices.
Jumeirah Golf Estates and its partners and ambassadors have a deep connection to EIFG. Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Chairman of Dubai World—the parent company of Leisurecorp, the owner and creator of Jumeirah Golf Estates—has been a member of the EIFG Advisory Council for more than three years. Greg Norman serves as the council’s chair, and Pete Dye, Sergio Garcia and Vijay Singh are also members. In addition, Dye, Garcia and Singh have all donated portions of their design fees from the Jumeirah Golf Estates project to EIFG.
Leisurecorp is also the proud recipient of the 2005 INVgolf Award for Europe, the Middle East and Africa’s Most Promising Developer of Golf Courses Focussed on Environmentally Sound Principles and Practices.
