Wayne Johnson joined Nakheel in 2008 as Senior Liaison Manager for Jumeirah Golf Estates / European Tour, progressing quickly to his current role as Director of Instruction. Bringing with him twenty years of global golf experience, working at some of the world’s leading golf courses, Wayne oversees tournament organization and the creation of golf academies and teaching programmes.

Wayne has worked on three continents with some of golf’s greats- Tiger Woods, Darren Clarke, Jose Maria Olazabal and Adam Scott. His former roles include leading local and international marketing efforts for the Monte Rei Golf & Country Club in Portugal, four years as Director of Instruction at Dubai’s Montgomerie Golf Club, in addition to similar roles at the Butch Harmon Schools of Golf in both Las Vegas and the Bahamas.

Additional international experiences include work as Director of Golf and Teaching Professionals at Pinheiros Altos Campo de Golfe in Portugal and at Zell am See Golf Club in Austria. He has also worked extensively in the UK at the Wisley Golf Club in Surrey and at leading golfing equipment manufacturers Callaway and Taylor Made.

Wayne is the former national coach to the United Arab Emirates’ Golf Team and a member of the Professional Golfers Association of Great Britain and Ireland.
